Open doors and hearts welcomed us into the convent of the Poor Clares in Kevelaer on June 20, 2009. 120 sisters and brothers of the Franciscan family were together to celebrate the jubilee of the 800 anniversary of the Rule of St. Francis. We all were impressed of Franciscan with the hospitality all day long - body and soul received the best “food”.

Sister Bernadette, the abbess of the Poor Clares, gave a lecture on some important points of the life of St. Clare:

  • Clare, focused on poverty
  • Clare, who looks into the future
  • Clare, who lived in the present
  • Clare, a courageous woman.

In working groups we meditated and talked about these points and we experienced that God needed St. Francis and St. Clare and GOD needs us, in which his message became alive today.

After Eucharist we left, strengthened in the consciousness that like Clare, we go courageously into the future. This day will continue to glow in us.
