In 1948, two Sisters from the American Province came to Japan to begin a new mission. Japan is a country very much influenced by Buddhism and Shinto. Only 0.3% of the population of Japan is Roman Catholic. But the Catholic Church is well accepted by the people because of its good works in the areas of education and social welfare. In 1977, the Sisters in Japan established the Japan Province, and this year, 2007, we celebrate our 30th Jubilee as a Province. Now, there are 56 professed Sisters in the Japan Province.
