Sister M. Crispa Tönjes

✝ Monday, January 29th 2018

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits and I hope for his word.
My soul looks for the Lord more than sentinels for daybreak.

Our dear Sister M. Crispa née Elisabeth Tönjes reached the goal of her faith in St. Anna Stift, Lohne-Kroge, the night of January 29, 2018.

Sister M. Crispa was born on February 10, 1925 in Elbergen near Löningen, Oldenburg. She entered our Congregation on January 24, 1947 and made her first profession of vows on October 28, 1949.

The life of Sister M. Crispa was marked by faith in God and creativity.  For decades, she placed her life in the service of our community as a nurse and a supervisor.

From 1963 to 1992, she served as supervisor of the women’s internal medicine ward in St. Bonifatius-Hospital in Lingen. Tirelessly, Sister M. Crispa committed herself for the welfare of the people, entrusted to her. As an authentic Franciscan, she radiated cordiality, benevolence and contentment.

In May 1992, Sister M. Crispa changed to St. Anna-Stift, Lohne-Kroge. In recent months, she was more and more dependent on assistance and care. She patiently and self-sacrificingly endured the many difficulties of aging. Filled with gratitude and confidence, Sister M. Crispa awaited the coming of the Risen Lord, who took her home during this night.

May God reward all the good she accomplished in her long life; may He receive her and bring her to perfection in His love.  We say farewell in love and gratitude, remembering her in prayer and in the Eucharistic celebration.

On Friday, February 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM we will pray the rosary in the Sacred Heart Church, Lohne-Kroge, followed by the Mass. The burial is in the parish cemetery in Lohne-Kroge.
