Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis

Sister M. Pergentia Bornhorst

✝ Wednesday, February 21st 2018

Jesus speaks: " I have come, so that you might have life,
and have it more abundantly.”
(Vespers Antiphon)

On February 21, 2018 in St. Francis Hospital, Lohne, Sister M. Pergentia née Emma Bornhorst was called home by God.

Sister M. Pergentia was born on August 12, 1931 in Kroge / Oldenburg. She entered our Congregation on April 12, 1957 and made her first profession of vows on October 28, 1959.

For decades, Sister M. Pergentia placed her life in the healing ministry of our community. She served as a nurse in various hospitals; from 1966 to 1973 she worked in the surgical department.
In the summer of 1985 she changed to Telgte and worked in the house 'Maria-Hilf' in the nursing care. She devoted herself self-sacrificingly and lovingly to the service of our Sisters. From 1992 to 1996, Sister Pergentia committed herself at St. Joseph Hospital in Bremen, mainly in the nursing care. From 1996 to 2003 she again served in Telgte.

In 2003, Sister M. Pergentia returned to her birthplace, Kroge. Here, in St. Anna-Stift, she spent the evening of her life. As long as she could, she cycled, to visit old people in the surrounding area. Because of a long-lasting creeping illness she lost her creative power. Believing and trusting, she walked the path of a disciple of Christ in Franciscan simplicity.

May God reward all the good she accomplished in her long life; may He receive her and bring her to perfection in His love.  We say farewell in love and gratitude, remembering her in prayer and in the Eucharistic celebration.

On Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM we will pray the rosary in the Sacred Heart Church, Lohne-Kroge, followed by the Holy Mass. The burial is in the parish cemetery in Lohne-Kroge.”
