✝ Monday, February 26th 2018

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits and I hope for his word.
My soul looks for the Lord more than sentinels for daybreak. P

Today, February 26, 2018, our dear Sister M. Theresta née Paula Schrandt reached the goal of her faith in St. Marienhospital in Vechta.

Sister M. Theresta was born on April 13, 1923 in Löningen-Benstrup. She entered our Congregation on August 12, 1950 and made her first profession of vows on October 28, 1953.

The life of Sister M. Theresta was marked by faith in God, energy and creativity.

For decades she served in various communities in the outpatient nursing care; including from 1956 to 1973 in Altenberge, from 1973 to 1974 in Ochtrup, and from 1974 to 1992 in Lingen. Tirelessly, she committed herself for the welfare of the patients entrusted to her and their families. As an authentic Franciscan she radiated cordiality, kindness and contentment.

In 1992 Sister M. Theresta changed to Löningen to St. Anna Hospital. Here she committed herself in the chapel. Due to her health complaints her strength diminished. Since August 2008 she lived as a resident in St. Anna-Stift, Lohne-Kroge, where she spent about nine years together with her niece, our Sister M. Theognia. In recent months, she was increasingly dependent upon help and care. Patiently and selflessly she endured the many difficulties of aging and of her disease.

Full of gratitude and longing, Sister M. Theresta gave back her earthly life into God’s protective hands.

May God reward all the good she accomplished in her long life; may He receive her and bring her to perfection in His love. We say farewell in love and gratitude, remembering her in prayer and in the Eucharistic celebration.
