Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life;
whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live."
″Relying on God’s love and mercy, the earthly pilgrimage of our dear Sister M. Elrika, the former Josepha Reinermann, was completed yesterday evening, April 30, 2019 in St. Francis House, Nordwalde.
Sister M. Elrika was born on April 28, 1922 in Schöppingen. She entered our Congregation on August 9, 1952 and made her first profession of vows on May 3, 1955.
For decades, Sr. M. Elrika placed her life in the healing ministry of our community. Until 1979, she served as a nurse in various hospitals, among others on the maternity ward in St. Marien-Hospital in Friesothe. In 1979, Sister M. Elrika changed to Neuenkirchen, district Oldenburg to the specialist clinic “Dammer Berge”. In her joyful and open-minded way, she encouraged the patients with addiction illnesses and their relatives.
Sister M. Elrika radiated helpfulness, benevolence and contentment. A profound faith in God and joyful creativeness characterized her life.
In 2004, as a senior Sister, she went to St. Francis House in Nordwalde. She was very close to nature and she often walked through the garden. Sister M. Elrika was very interested in all happenings in the world, in politics, in the church and in her family.
In the last years, her strength progressively diminished and then she was completely dependent upon help and care. Yesterday evening, in the presence of her Sisters, Sister M. Elrika went to meet the Incarnate and Risen Christ, willingly and full of gratitude.
We say our farewells to Sister M. Elrika, grateful to God for the gift of her life in our Congregation and for all her kindness. Trusting God’s goodness, sure and believing, that He will call her into eternal home, we think of her in our prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist.
