Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis

Sister M. Imeldis Lübbe

✝ Saturday, April 11th 2020

“Death is the gateway to light,at the end of an arduous journey.”    (Francis of Assisi )

On Holy Saturday morning, April 11, 2020, the earthly pilgrimage of our dear Sister M. Imeldis was completed in St. Francis Hospital in Münster.

Sister M. Imeldis was born on April 18, 1935 in Addrup / Oldenburg and joined our Congregation on January 27, 1956. She made her first profession of vows on October 28, 1958.

In 1960, Sister M. Imeldis completed her nursing exam. She then worked as a nurse in various hospitals until 1973. She was very sociable, showed a lot of understanding and was very fond of the patients entrusted to her.

In 1973/74 she completed a one-year study on nursing administration. Afterwards she worked from autumn 1974 to spring 1976 as director at St. Bernhard Hospital, Kamp-Lintfort and in 1976 at St. Josef-Stift in Sendenhorst. Due to illness, she was suspended from her ministry for several months. In August 1977 she took over the sacristy service in the Hospital chapel in Kamp-Lintfort in the St. Bernhard Hospital for 11 years. Sr. M. Imeldis was in charge of the novitiate convent from 1988 to 1991. In spring 1991 she took over the Housekeeping work at the Christoph Bernsmeyer House in Telgte.  From 1993 to 2013 she was also the superior of the house there. Sister M. Imeldis was valued and respected. She lived and served in faith and saw the presence of God in every creature. From personal prayer and contemplation of Scripture, she received the strength for her ministry.

Since autumn 2013, Sister M. Imeldis, lived with her sister, Sister M. Gallicana, as a resident in the St.  Francis House in Nordwalde.  She enjoyed this togetherness. At the end of February 2020, Sister M. Imeldis fell seriously ill. She was admitted to the St. Francis Hospital. Brave and uncomplainingly, in her severe suffering, she followed Christ on the path of following to the cross. Well prepared she put her life back into the protective hands of God around 7:45 this morning.

We extend our warmest condolences to our dear Sister M. Gallicana, her sister.

Gratefully we say goodbye to Sister M. Imeldis. We thank God for her life in our congregation and for her goodness. Trusting in God's goodness and firmly believing that He will receive her into the eternal home, we commemorate her in prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist.

The funeral is on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the parish cemetery in Nordwalde. Because of the corona pandemic, the attendance will be smaller.
