Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis

Sister M. Briga Behnen

✝ Thursday, July 30th 2020

God has written us in his hand and God's hands are good hands.  (Cardinal Höffner)

Last evening, July 30, 2020,    believing in the Resurrection and in the hope of  completion   in God's glory   our dear Sister M. Briga completed her earthly way.

Sister M. Briga was born on June 27, 1926 in Dinklage / Oldbg. She joined our Congregation on January 27, 1950. She made her first profession on October 28, 1952.

Sister M. Briga first learned the profession of a nurse. Subsequently, she was trained as a medical-technical assistant in 1959. For many years she worked in various hospitals in the X-ray department, most recently from 1973 to 2007 in the St. Ludgerus-Stiftung in Billerbeck. Her life was shaped by deep belief in God, selfless care and helpfulness for everyone. Attentive, loving and patient, she always stood up for the patients.

Sister M. Briga   lived in the St. Heriburg-Haus  in Münster since May 2007. At the beginning, she took on household chores. Due to her increasing age problems, she had to rely on help and care in the past few years. She was very happy and thankful for all the support she received. She deliberately prepared to go home to God, to whom she had dedicated her whole life. Trusting in God's merciful love, she gave her earthly life back to God's hands around 7:30   last evening, July 30, 2020, hoping for an eternal life in perfection with HIM.

May eternal life now become a reality for Sister M. Briga, for which she had trusted her whole life. We thankfully say goodbye to her. We believe that she is now called   to dine at the Lord’s Eternal Supper. In prayer and in celebration of the Eucharist commemorating her, we remain united with her.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Eucharist will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., only in the closer circle, in the chapel of the St. Heriburg-Haus; followed by the burial in the   Sisters’ cemetery in Münster. May she rest in peace.
