Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord,
May it be done to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
On September 9, 2020, died in St. Heriburg House in Münster our dear Sister M. Romana, the former Elisabeth Wenning.Sister M. Romana was born on October 3, 1931. On August 13, 1954, she entered our Congregration and made her first profession of vows on May 3, 1957.
First, Sister M. Romana studied the profession of nursing. After completing her nursing exam, she served for more than 30 years, as a nurse and a supervisor with a great sense of responsibility in various hospitals of our community.
From 1995 – 2016 she committed herself as as a Pastoral care worker in St. Sixtus Hospital in Haltern. Tirelessly, she committed herself for the patients and accompanied many of them lovingly in the phase of dying.
In 2016, because of her age and because of increasing health problems, Sister M. Romana changed to St. Heriburg House in Münster. Here she enjoyed the ‘being together’ with her sister, our dear Sister M. Agneta. Sister M. Romana always had a smile on her face and the encounters with her were soothing and enjoyable.
In the last weeks, the health condition of Sister M. Romana more and more deteriorated. Consciously and decisively she entered the last phase of her earthly life, being lovingly accompanied by many, especially by Sister M. Agneta. Yesterday afternoon she was called home by God into His heavenly kingdom.
We believe that now in heaven, she is united with her sister, our dear Sister M. Adelia, and the other brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.
We thank God for the life of our Sister M. Romana and believe that now she is forever united with Him, whom she followed on earth as a joyful Franciscan. In prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist we remain united with her.
