Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
Jesus says "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live in Eternity."Ref. Joh 11. 25
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior called in the early morning hours, our dear Sister M. Bernardi Stemmer into his glory.
Sister M. Bernardi was born in Oberhausen-Osterfeld on February 14, 1934. She entered our Congregation on October 7, 1955. She made her first profession on May 3, 1958.
Sister M. Bernardi learned the profession of cook before joining our congregation. In our community she was trained as a nurse and then as a dietician. For a few years she worked in various hospital kitchens, later in nursing. In 1972 she came to St. Francis Hospital; she worked first in a ward, later in the ECG department. She lovingly and patiently cared for the sick entrusted to her and always had a good word for those she worked with. In 1977 Sister M. Bernardi moved to the Motherhouse, where she was given an assignment in the refectory and in the laundry. In all her apostolates, Sister M. Bernardi lovingly worked for the good of the people.
Sister M. Bernardi lived quietly and humbly as a Franciscan. She took the concerns of many with her in prayer. In 2007 Sister M. Bernardi moved to the St. Heriburg House. In the last years she was dependent on more help. She was lovingly cared and accompanied.
Sister M. Bernardi was prepared for the coming of her Lord, as it can be seen in the saying and the picture that she had chosen for her obituary card.
We are grateful for the life of Sister M. Bernardi in our midst. In prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist we remember her.
Due to the current situation, the Eucharistic celebration will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., only in the inner circle, in the chapel of St. Heriburg House; afterwards Sister M. Bernardi will be buried in our Sisters' cemetery in Münster.
