Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life." John 6:68
The Lord God called our dear Sister M. Hildelita Abeln to his kingdom on September 21, 2020, in St. Anna-Stift, Lohne-Kroge,
Sister M. Hildelita was born on October 29, 1934 in Garrel and joined our congregation on August 10, 1956. She made her first profession on May 3, 1959.
After her nursing exams, Sister M. Hildelita worked as a good nurse for several years. Due to her poor health, Sister M. Hildelita was no longer able to work as a nurse and was employed in domestic work from 1972 to 1998.
In 1999 Sister M. Hildelita came to the St. Anna Stift in Lohne- Kroge. Sister M. Hildelita was handicapped by a progressive bone disease in her leg and spent most of her time in the residential area. During prayer and meal times she made her way to the church and refectory. The companionship with the sisters and to her family was important to her. As long as she could, she helped in the laundry; later she took care of fellow sisters who were in poorer health and did small charitable services.
Sister M. Hildelita enjoyed doing handicrafts for the bazaar or as gifts. She took good care of her flowers on the small balcony and in her room. When she could hardly leave the room, she was pleased with the various birds that came to the bird feeder on her balcony.
In the last weeks, Sister M. Hildelita was in need of more care. She waited eagerly for the coming of her master, who called her by name last night at 7 p.m.
We gratefully take leave of Sister M. Hildelita. In prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist we remember her and remain united with her.
On Monday, September 28, 2020, at 2:30 p.m., the Requiem will take place in the narrow circle in the Sacred Heart Church in Lohne-Kroge. Afterwards the funeral will be at the local cemetery.
