✝ Monday, October 12th 2020

In the house of the Lord I will dwell for ever and ever. (Psalm 23)

In the hope of completing life through Jesus Christ, died our loving Sister M. Gerharde Boolke, today at noon, October 12, 2020, in St. Franziskus Haus in Nordwalde,

Sister M. Gerharde was born on November 8, 1932 in Rheine-Hauenhorst and joined our congregation on April 6, 1959. She made her first profession on October 28, 1961.

Sister M. Gerharde trained as a nurse in 1962 and then worked as a nurse in the station manager of the St. Antonius-Hospital in Sevelen from 1965 to 1971 and in the St. Marien-Hospital in Lünen from 1971 to 1991. With great personal attention and a high degree of empathy she lovingly and competently cared for the patients entrusted to her.

In 1991 she trained as elderly and pastoral care assistant for the in hospitals. For more than 23 years she was engaged in pastoral ministry in the St. Bernhard Hospital in Kamp-Lintfort. From personal prayer and the contemplation of the Holy Scriptures she took the strength for this ministry. Her life was characterized by trust in God and openness to the concerns of the people entrusted to her and the service in the church. Sister M. Gerharde was highly esteemed and respected for her friendly manner.

In 2014 Sister M. Gerharde came to the St. Franziskus-Haus in Nordwalde. She was always satisfied and a grateful Franciscan, willing to take over small ministries. Sister Gerharde accompanied seriously ill and dying sisters with love and tranquility. She was very interested in the events of the congregation, of the church and in the world. Lately she was not in good health. In faith in the resurrection and in the hope of its completion in God's glory, Sister M. Gerharde returned home to her Creator at noon today at about 12:55 pm.

We gratefully take leave of Sister M. Gerharde. We thank God for her life in our community and also for all her goodness. Trusting in God's goodness and firmly believing that He will welcome her into her eternal home, we remember her in prayer and in the Eucharist. She will remain in good memory for all of us.

The funeral will take place on Friday, 16.10.2020, at 10.00 o'clock at the parish cemetery in Nordwalde. Because of the Corona Pandemic the usual rules apply.
