✝ Saturday, September 18th 2021

Thus says the Lord: "Whoever believes in me will live." John 11.25

On September 18, 2021, God, the Lord of life and death, called to His eternal peace in St. Heriburg House, our dear Sister M. Gundela Poppenborg.

Sister M. Gundela was born on January 6th, 1928 in Harsewinkel and entered our congregation on January 27th, 1951. She made her first profession on October 28, 1953. After she had made her profession, Sister M. Gundela was initially assigned to the Motherhouse and trained as a nurse in 1954. At the school at St. Franziskus Hospital, Münster, she successfully passed the examination to become a dietician in 1958. From 1960 to 1994 she worked as a dietician and kitchen manager in the canteen at St. Joseph Hospital in Moers. She was happy to pass on her professional knowledge to her employees. In 1994, Sister M. Gundela placed the kitchen management in younger hands and then worked in the refectory. She was always concerned about her fellow sisters and loved to care for them.

In the spring of 2005, Sister M. Gundela first came to Telgte as a senior at the St. Irmgardis convent. She was always approachable and helpful. Since May 2007 she lived as a home resident in St. Heriburg house. For herself she remained humble, undemanding and content, grateful for every good word and every help. In accordance with her calling, she faithfully followed her path of faith. In the last few weeks her health was not good, so that she was completely dependent on help and care. She was waiting for Christ, the risen One, who brought her home to the Eternal Father House at around 9.00 p.m. on the last night, September 18, 2021.

We thank God for the life of our Sister M. Gundela and ask him to reward her for all the goodness in her life and to accept her into the eternal dwelling. We bid her farewell with love and gratitude and, in prayer, recommend her to the closeness and goodness of God.

We celebrate the Eucharist on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Motherhouse Church in Münster. Afterwards the burial takes place in the sister cemetery. Due to the corona situation, the usual rules apply.
