Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
My time is in Your hands. Now I can be calm, be calm in You! (P. Strauch)
This morning, October 01, 2021, in St. Franziskus Hospital, Münster, our dear Sister M. Laetitia Thorwesten is called by God to him into his eternal peace.
Sister M. Laetitia was born on September 07, 1937 in Stukenbrock, Paderborn district, and entered our congregation on August 18, 1961. She made her first profession on May 03, 1964.
Before joining our community, Sister M. Laetitia passed the nursing exam in the hospital in Meschede in 1960. After her first profession, she stayed in the motherhouse and worked first in the Maria-Trost and later in St. Heriburg house in the care of the elderly. In 1977, she took part in a training course on the administration of elderly homes. Her deep faith and her bond with Christ shaped her life. With great personal care, she lovingly and competently looked after the residents entrusted to her.
In spring 1992, she moved to the Christoph-Bernsmeyer-Haus in Telgte. Here she took over the housekeeping in the convent. Believing in the presence of God, she lovingly and compassionately served her fellow sisters and guests.
In autumn 2013, she returned to the motherhouse and got involved in the Elisabeth-Oase for the breakfast of homeless and poor people. She lovingly and carefully looked after a former employee right up to the end.
Sister M. Laetitia lived in St. Heriburg House since 2019. Her strength diminished noticeably. She was increasingly dependent on care and help. About a week ago, she came to St. Franziskus Hospital in the intensive station because of increasing shortness of breath. Trusting in God’s goodness and mercy, she gave her life back into the hands of God at around 4.00 a.m. this morning.
We believe that Sister M. Laetitia will now share in Christ's glory. We bid her farewell with love and gratitude. In prayer, we recommend her to the closeness and goodness of God.
We celebrate the Eucharist on Wednesday, October 06, 2021 at 2.00 p.m. in the Motherhouse Church in Münster; afterwards the burial takes place in our sister cemetery in Münster. Due to the corona situation, the usual rules apply.
