Sister M. Laurentiana Thissen

✝ Sunday, February 6th 2022

"My times are in your hands, Lord.
Now I can be calm, be calm in you.”

(German Hymn – Peter Strauch)

On February 6, 2022, the earthly pilgrimage of our dear Sister M. Laurentiana Thissen, Hospital Sister of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis, was completed in St. Heriburg House in Münster.

Sister M. Laurentiana was born on August 7, 1928 in Warendorf-Velsen. She entered our Congregation on August 6, 1946 and made her first profession of vows on May 3, 195

After her profession of vows, Sister M. Laurentiana, was trained in nursing care. Following her nursing exam, Sister M. Laurentiana served in various hospitals as a nurse until 1965. From 1965 to 2008, as Superior, she assumed the responsibility for the hospitals in Greven, Stadtlohn, Löningen and Mettingen. In 2008, she returned to the Motherhouse in Münster.

In 2018, Sister M. Laurentiana moved from the Motherhouse convent to St. Heriburg House. On the evening of February 6, 2022, Sister M. Laurentiana gave back her life into the hands of our heavenly Father, lovingly accompanied by the employees and her religious sisters.

Sister M. Laurentiana influenced and marked the hospitals, in which she served as superior by her openness and her benevolence. She was very devoted to all patients, entrusted to her. We thank her for assuming such a great responsibility over many years. Sister M. Laurentiana also had two biological sisters in our Congregation, Sister M. Hadwigis and Sister M. Huberta, with whom she is now reunited in God.

With gratitude, we take our farewell from Sister M. Laurentiana. In prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist we remember her and remain united with her.
