Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. (Psalm 23)
On the eve of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, March 24, 2022, our good God called to eternal life our Sister M. Georgis Tapke.
Sister M. Georgis was born on August 28, 1928 in Lutten in the district of Vechta. She came from a family of teachers. Her father taught her and her siblings in the village school. On August 9, 1952, she followed her older sisters Sister M. Stephanis and Sister M. Gisilaria into our congregation. She made her first profession on May 3, 1955.
Sister M. Georgis completed her nursing training at St. Franziskus Hospital in Münster. After her training, she worked in nursing care in Gladbeck, Everswinkel, Schermbeck, Nottuln and Körbecke.
In 2004, she came to St. Anna-Stift in Kroge as a resident and selflessly helped wherever she was needed. Her open, friendly and warm way of approaching, everyone and her great gratitude are particularly well remembered by her fellow sisters. Repeatedly, she thanked everyone, even for the little help she had to accept, as she grew older. Since Christmas, her health had been steadily deteriorating. Some time ago, she had to go to the hospital in Damme, where several complications gradually developed, indicating her near death. The fellow sisters kept vigil with her and endured with her. Shortly before her death, she wanted very much to return to Kroge, which was made possible for her with lot of help. On her last evening, she told the nursing staff that she would not need any more breakfast, since she would already be with God by then. So it came to pass. She gave her life back into the hands of God on March 24 at 10:30 p.m. in the presence of her fellow Sisters.
We gratefully bid farewell to Sister M. Georgis. We remember her in prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist and remain united to her.
We will celebrate the Eucharist on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the convent church in Kroge; afterwards, the burial takes place in the Kroge Cemetery. Due to the Corona Pandemic, the usual rules apply.
