Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
Death is the gateway to life! (St. Francis)
The merciful God called to himself our dear Sister M. Martha Wemschulte
Born: 03 January 1933
Entrance: 28 January 1956
Profession: 28 October 1958
Died: 22 June 2022.
Sister M. Martha was born on a small farm in Neuenkirchen near Rheine. She lost her mother at a young age.
At the age of 22, she entered our congregation and, after her profession, completed her nursing training at the St. Franziskus Hospital in Münster. In the first years of the community life she lived in several houses until she got her assignment in the social station in Lohne from 1980 - 1996, which she loved very much. After that she was convent superior in Haselünne until 1999 and took over pastoral services in the house. Afterwards she cared the entrance and the chapel in Horstmar for five years.
Her severe visual impairment caused her a lot of trouble, so that in 2004 she went to St. Francis House in Nordwalde as a senior citizen. In the first years she still enjoyed being involved in the convent. With her good singing voice she sang the breviary as long as she was able. Gradually, however, her strength diminished and Sister Martha became bedridden. Especially during this time she was very happy about the visits of her relatives, who faithfully accompanied and visited her until the end.
On the afternoon of June 22, at 3:35 p.m., in the presence of many of her fellow Sisters, she passed quietly away to her heavenly home. With this, the merciful God graciously ended her long journey of suffering.
Gratefully we take leave of Sister M. Martha. In prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist, we pray for her and remain united to her.
On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, we will say farewell to Sister M. Martha at 10:00 a.m. at the parish cemetery in Nordwalde and accompany her to her final resting place. We will celebrate the Eucharist for her at 7:45 a.m. in the Sisters' Convent. Because of the Corona pandemic, the usual rules apply.
