Sister M. Lupercia Stehman

✝ Friday, July 8th 2022

My God and My All! (St. Francis)

The Risen God called to Himself our dear Sister M. Lupercia Stehman

Born:      October 12, 1929

Entrance:        August 14, 1954

Profession:      May 3, 1957

Died:               July 8, 2022

Sister M. Lupercia was born in Mettingen, where she also went to school. At the age of 25, she entered our congregation and went through the usual path of formation with pre-novitiate and novitiate. During this time, she already began her nursing training at St. Franziskus Hospital in Münster. Later she trained as a state-approved podiatrist in Gelsenkirchen-Buer and with this knowledge and skill; she rendered good service to many sisters who had difficulty in walking.

After initial assignments in Wilhelmshaven, Ochtrup and Bremen, she became an X-ray assistant and worked in the X-ray departments in Hückeswagen and in Oberhausen-Osterfeld from 1963 - 1978. Then she moved on to Dorsten, where Sister M. Lupercia took over outpatient care. For this, she made the driver's license, which gave her great services. From 1995, she cared for her fellow Sisters in Seppenrade, who were elderly and in need of care, until she moved to St. Francis House in Nordwalde in October 2017 for reasons of age. She enjoyed participating in community life. Her joys were sewing and minor household chores. Calm and peaceful, she went her way.

Last year, her strength began to decline, and she spent most of her time in the living area, where the staff lovingly cared for her. Since last week, she slowly became weaker and prepared herself on the way to God and on the afternoon of July 8, in the presence of her fellow Sisters, she gave her life back into the hands of God.

We bid farewell to Sister M. Lupercia with gratitude. In prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist, we pray for her and remain united to her.

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, we will celebrate the Eucharist for her at 7.45 a.m. in the Sisters' Convent of St. Francis House and say goodbye to Sister M. Lupercia at 10.00 a.m. in the parish cemetery in Nordwalde. Then we will accompany her there to her final resting place. Afterwards we invite to coffee in the St. Franziskus-Haus.
