On January 12, 2019, the ‘Extraordinary Provincial Chapter of Election’ of the Japan Province opened with the theme:
“To serve the Kingdom of God -
sharing our lives, as we are gifts for one another”.
Historically, it is the first time that an extraordinary chapter of election was held in our Japan Province, shortly after the General Chapter of our Congregation in the USA in September 2018.
Sister Maria Fidelis Furukawa is elected as the Provincial Superior.
The Provincial Leadership of the Japan Province elected the Provincial Councilors on January 14, 2019. The names of the Sisters of the Provincial Council of the Japan Province are now as follows:
Sister M. Laetitia Matsunaga, Provincial Vicaress
Sister M. Theodora Wakatsuki, Provincial Councilor
Sister M. Vianney Kawaguchi, Provincial Councilor
To each Sister, we extend our congratulations and prayerful thanks for their dedicated service at this extraordinary time of the Japan Province after the General Chapter. We especially thank the newly elected Sisters for accepting the call to a ministry in provincial leadership. May God’s blessings accompany Sister Maria Fidelis and the Sisters of the provincial council as they serve in leadership of the Japan Province.
For all of these Sisters, those newly elected as well as all the Sisters of the Japan Province, let us pray for God’s blessings. May each Sister experience our support, prayer and appreciation in all new beginnings.
