The first International Virtual Leadership Conference with the theme, ‘Embrace the Future with Hope, begun on Friday, 02, July the 177th Foundation Day of our International Congregation. 56 participants were together virtually, attending this conference, with all the translation equipment set at the generalate, being operated and connected with the already established connections in our provinces in Germany, Poland, United States, Japan and in India. The participants were members of the general administration, all of our five province administrations with their IT administrators, together with Father Michael Plattig, O.Carm., our spiritual director, Sister Carol Zinn, SSJ Ph.D.( Executive Director of LCWR), our Speaker (USA), Prof. Dr. Margret Nemann and Domkapitular Hans Bernd Köppen, our Facilitators and Moderators.
The conference time was three hours daily in five different time zones. For the sisters of the American Province, it was early 6.00 am and while it is late evening, 8 pm for our sisters in Japan.
Sister Carol Zinn, enriched us by deepening the importance of the theme during this very special time in our history. Her reflections and insights, reminded us again that religious life is a life and a ministry, a radical response to the Gospel with joy and devotion, a life of prayer, a life together and a life praising God. It is just not a change but a transformation.
Fortunately, our Techniques functioned well. Just like in a physical conference, we were able to have province groups and international groups for discussions and reporting during the conference days. Sister M. Margarete in her closing remarks focused on the importance of “Embracing the future with Hope” at this challenging time of our history. She emphasized on the importance to be conscious, that each of us remains called to live and to share our Franciscan charism to be and to bring healing presence for the life of the world.
The conference concluded on 09, July with the blessing and concluding prayer by Father Michael, transmitted from our motherhouse church in Münster. We are very grateful for the deep felt sense of unity within our diversity.
