Descent of the Holy Spirit
After the Ascension, the disciples of Jesus gathered in the upper room. With Mary, the Mother of Jesus, they prayed fervently for the coming of the Holy Spirit. In one accord, they carried all their fears, worries and needs, desires, longings and questions before God in prayer. They knew they were safe in the strong hands of God, which gave them strength and courage. Wherever the Lord's Spirit is, He takes away our fear and makes us aware: Whatever may happen, His infinite love will never leave us.
In these days between Ascension and Pentecost, we too have been praying urgently for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, for our world, for our wounded Church, for our Congregation and for all the people who have asked us: Please pray for me!
The Holy Spirit, who gathered the apostles as one community, gathered us Sisters as well. Our Congregation is united in the diversity of cultures and nationalities, united in everything, we experience or we have to suffer. With motherly care, the Mother of Jesus has accompanied the young Church on her way. At all times, she is with us as a constant helper and powerful intercessor. She is a model for us in her loving devotion to Jesus Christ.
Together with Mary, Mother of the Church, let us ask the Greatest Comforter in time, that HE may enlighten all hearts and may send forth the heavenly ray of His light. God is good and He is faithful always, even in the midst of a pandemic and chaos in the world. Happy Pentecost!
