"In the name of the Lord!"
Sister Margarete Ulagar, the General Superior wrote in the circular letter to the Sisters of the International Congregation. “On the feast of St. Francis, we greet you warmly from the Generalate in Münster.
When we take the book of our General Constitutions, we encounter on the first pages the picture of a parchment attributed to St. Francis, written as a response to the request for direction on the way. This parchment manuscript can be seen in the Guarnacci Library of Volterra in Italy and is known as the First Letter to the Faithful. On the following pages of our General Constitutions, we find the Franciscan Rule: Rule and Life of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis. The rule is preceded by the words: "In the name of the Lord!”
In the name of the Lord, we are born, baptized and called to follow Him. In the name of the Lord, we said our "YES" as we professed our first vows and one day, in the name of the Lord, we will give back our lives into His good hands, into the mystery of eternity.
In recent weeks, the Pope repeatedly emphasized that the pandemic shows how fragile our human existence is and how important it is that people are there for one another.
On October 3, 2020, Pope Francis will sign his third encyclical "Fratelli tutti" in Assisi; this encyclical is dedicated, as we read in the subtitle, to “fraternity” and “social friendship”.
Pope Francis invites us to meditate his message; he truly wants to speak to the heart of each and every person when his encyclical reaches out to us from the holy place of Assisi. A blessed feast of St. Francis.”
