Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis

Sister M. Hermiona Polok

✝ Saturday, May 15th 2021

I return home like a weary pilgrim, and You lovingly receive me again...

On May 15, 2021, in the District Hospital in Glatz-Scheibe, died our dear Sister M. Hermiona Polok

Sister M. Hermiona was born on December 24, 1935 in Gross Döbern. She entered our Congregation on February 1, 1958 and made her first profession on November 21, 1960.

Sister M. Hermiona initially performed her service as a nurse in the hospital in Pieszyce (Peterswaldau/Eulengebirge). Then from 1960 to 1998, she worked as a nurse in the nursing home in Habelschwerd/Grafschaft Glatz. In 1998, she was assigned to the convent in Glatz-Scheibe, where she served the sick and elderly sisters and in the household. There she remained until the end of her days.

In the memory of the sisters, Sister M. Hermiona will remain as a praying sister. Faithful in remaining before the Lord, quiet, humble, smiling, hardworking and available. She was very devoted in her service to the sick and to her fellow Sisters.

She always dutifully and diligently participated in community life and prayer. She was often found in the adoration before the Lord  and could be counted on for prayerful support in various difficult cases that were recommended to her.

Sister M. Hermiona fell ill with Covid-19 in mid-April, and the experience of the illness helped her to consciously prepare herself to meet the Lord. For Sister M. Hermiona it was also a time of special experiences of illness and suffering. At the same time, she was very patient, cheerful and grateful for all the good that was done to her. She often told her fellow sisters, "The most important thing for me is the salvation of my soul, please pray for me."

When her health deteriorated, she was admitted to the infirmary. On May 15, 2021, around 8:15 a.m., she passed away in the Lord.

She was grateful to her fellow sisters and family who were a great support to her on her journey especially for every service, kindness and prayer support during the last days of her life. She continues to trust in our prayers.

The Eucharistic celebration will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Glatz-Scheibe. Sister M. Hermiona will be buried in the municipal cemetery in Glatz-Scheibe.
