Our sister M. Gordianis Hisker placed her life into the hands of God through the hands of the Blessed Mother, whom she venerated throughout her life. Hospital Sister of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis.

Maria Hisker was born in Ellewick, district of Ahaus, and grew up with her siblings. At the age of twenty-two, she followed her Sister, our Sister M. Fridolindis, who was eight years older and entered our community.

She was trained as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Münster and worked for some time as a nurse in Dorsten and Steinbild.

For the longest time she cared for our sisters in the convents in Molbergen, Bremen, Ahaus and Kamp-Lintfort. She did this with love and care. She served in the refectory and sometimes in the chapel.

Since 1996, Sister M. Gordianis has lived in St. Francis House in Nordwalde and continued to care for her fellow sisters as long as she was able.  The sisters in the community were always important to her. She enjoyed the company of the sisters and participated in various activities. Especially she enjoyed praying the Rosary.

On Monday, September 11, 2023, we will say goodbye to Sister M. Gordianis at 02.00 p.m. in the Motherhouse Church. We will then accompany her to her final resting place in the Sisters' Cemetery, where her own sister, Sr. M. Fridolindis has been buried since 2007. Afterwards, we can share our memories over coffee at the Motherhouse.
