✝ Saturday, December 23rd 2023

The Hope and Savior of the nations: O come, quickly to our aid, You our God!                                                  O-Antiphon on December 23

Two days before Christmas, the faithful God called our Sister M. Engeltrudis Kipp, to Himself and fulfilled her wish to be with Him at Christmas.  Hospital Sister of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis.

Born:   April 27, 1932

Entrance:         January 30, 1960

Profession:      October 28, 1962

Died:    December 23, 2023

Sister M. Engeltrudis grew up with her seven brothers and sisters in Erle near Raesfeld. She met the Franciscan Sisters of St. Mauritz at the hospital in Schermbeck, where she received her training as a housekeeper.

She became a Franciscan at the age of 28. After her novitiate, she completed her training as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Münster. She worked as a nurse in hospitals in Borghorst, Kamp-Lintfort and Löningen. She also worked in home care in Amelsbüren and Osterfeld. After a long period of illness, she was no longer able to carry out her duties as a nurse.  Thus, she served in the kitchen, in the refectory and in the sacristy. Later she came to Maria Frieden Rehabilitation Clinic, Telgte and later to the convent of the Maria-Hilf at St. Rochus Hospital.

When her strength began to fail, Sister M. Engeltrudis moved to St. Heriburg House in Münster as a senior citizen. She enjoyed participating in community prayer and community activities. She continued to pray faithfully until her last hours, and was ready to receive the Lord when He came to receive her.

We gratefully bid farewell to Sister M. Engeltrudis. We remember her in prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist and remain united to her as sisters.

On Thursday, December 28, 2023, we will say goodbye to Sister M. Engeltrudis at 2.00 p.m. in the Motherhouse Church and then accompany her to her final resting place in the Sisters' Cemetery. Afterwards, we can share our memories of her over coffee in the motherhouse.
