Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis

Sister M. Sheeja OSF

The Lord is my shepherd
Psalm 23:1

Introduction
I, Sr. M. Sheeja, was born as the eldest daughter to my parents, Mr. Varghese and Mrs. Thresiamma, on June 04, 1972 in Kodussery, Ernakulum District, Kerala, India. I am blessed with four siblings: three sisters and a brother. All the siblings of mine are settled in life and with their families working in different parts of the world. Unfortunately, I lost my father in1999 but with God's grace I still enjoy the accompaniment of my mother.

Family Background
God planted the seed of deep faith in the heart of my parents that was a help for me and for my siblings to grow in the love of God.  It is my firm believe that God has his unfailing plan for each one of us.  A taste for Religious Life was inculcated in me from my childhood; I tasted it from Religious Sisters who taught me catechism.  Being the eldest in my family, expected to serve the parents, I was not free to express my desire to join Religious Life to my parents.

Vocation to Religious Life
I believe that God's plan works in an appropriate time and most perfect manner.  As I was attending my classes of the first year graduation, my friend inspired me to join this Congregation as Sisters had come to recruit the candidates.  I expressed my deepest desire to my parents.  Initially, they were not so happy to send me because of the long distance and I had to travel and live far away from the family. Yet, trusting in God, they said ‘Yes’ to me and permitted to join the Congregation.  So, I joined our Congregation on June 10, 1990.

The formation period was a time where I deepened my faith in God and experienced God’s immense love and mercy.  On February 2, 1995, I said first YES to God as I made my First Profession in the Congregation. Later, my Congregation gave me an opportunity to do my Graduation and Post Graduation in Commerce. I was also permitted to do my studies and training as Charted Accountant.

In Service of God and the Congregation
Since my first vows, I have been assisting in accounts department in serving the community and God’s people.  Presently I serve as the Provincial Treasurer.

Conclusion
The Lord is faithful to his promises and is merciful in all his acts (Ps145:13).  This word of God became a reality in my life.  I thank God for His faithfulness to me and giving me a precious vocation to Religious Life.  I pray that my entire life be a faithful service to God witnessing Him and His love!
